beansprout.ca ~ unique fashions for children

March 3, 2013 by Deanna Tousignant 39 Comments

I recently discovered beansprout.ca, a cool kid’s boutique clothing site, featuring quality unique children’s wear and accessories  Bean sprout is a small independently owned Canadian store that operates out of Toronto. The owner, Trish Haddad, is passionate about bright colourful clothing for children and personally chooses each piece based on its style, quality, wear-ability and price. Once upon a time bean sprout was a brick and mortar shop, but it’s now transformed into an online store ~ accessible to all!

I was excited to pick out a few things from beansprout.ca for Rocket’s third birthday. I received a Deux par Deux Flounced Mon Coeur Balance Dress, a button bracelet and an Én Gry & Sif handbag.

My gift choices arrived extremely fast and were packaged expertly. I was delighted to see the Deux Par Deux dress was in a protective plastic sleeve and even included the hanger. The dress was just as cute in real life as the photos on the website had led me to believe. Rocket’s eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning when I handed her new dress over to her. I love that the dress descriptions on beansprout.ca include things like how much “twirl” the skirt has.  And in this case, “super fun and twirly” is an incredibly accurate description as putting on her special birthday dress made my little girl feel like dancing and spinning.

I was happy to see that beansprout.ca has a solid selection of Deux Par Deux, as it’s one of my favourite “boutique” brands (I love that they’re Canadian, and I love the gorgeous clothes they make.)  However, what was even more exciting was the unique discoveries I made on the website, such as the button bracelet and handmade handbag I ended up picking out.

The button bracelet was utterly adorable and a big hit with the birthday girl.

Each button bracelet is unique and one of a kind. They are made by a local mom using colourful buttons, both vintage and new, sparkling yarn and stretch elastic. My only regret is that I went with a size small (2-4) and it is quite tiny, which means it barely fit and won’t be usable for very long. While I’m frustrated that I didn’t go with the large 4-10 size, I am still in love with this quirky and fun bracelet and I think it is going to make the perfect dolly bracelet once my daughter outgrows it.

The highlight of my package however was the Én Gry & Sif handbag. Én Gry & Sif is a Danish company that specializes in making items from 100% pure wool from New Zealand. The quality of the purse we received is amazing and it is so darn cute! The photos from the website can’t do it justice, when I first laid eyes on the real thing I actually squealed with delight. I was so excited about gifting this gorgeous little bag to my girl, and she of course loved it.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with my order from beansprout.ca. The prices are reasonable for the brands and quality that she carries. (Tip: Be sure to check out the sale section for some amazing deals! and sign up for the bean sprout newsletter or follow their Facebook page to be alerted for when new sales and promotions are announced.) I definitely recommend checking out the site, and I will most certainly be shopping here again.

I would have so much fun spoiling my 3 little girls with this. I'd definitely get a couple of headbands- they all have super fine hair that is always hanging in their eyes. And there is no way I could pass up the adorable Morgan and Milo Avril dot shoes, but the maryjanes are also pretty cute. Maybe I'd get both?!
