Bring on the Springtime Shoes! with pediped

April 25, 2014 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

Spring is finally here. On our walks to the bus in the morning, we’ve seen our first snails and our first tulips. The little leftover piles of snow have been replaced by mud puddles. It’s official, spring is finally here. Which means it’s time to pack up the winter boots and break out the springtime shoes.

Disclosure: Pediped provided me with a complimentary pair of waterplay shoes to review. Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of those links I get a small commission at no cost to you.

The Spring/Summer collection from pediped offers over 70 new styles of shoes for little feet, all approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association. The highlight of their new spring line? Over 20 different styles designed with a special material that is water friendly and machine washable. Perfect for this muddy springtime weather, right?

We had a chance to test out a pair of Flex Darcy from the Adventure Line. (EDIT: These have been discontinued, but pediped still makes waterplay/adventure shoes. Try these Flex River Runners for something similar). These shoes are a bit unique. They have a solid closed toe and breathable mesh sides. They are truly made for active outdoor adventures. They are designed to take dunks and splashes and would be perfect for a day at the beach. The shoes are eco-friendly, made without solvents and with an all natural rubber sole. The Mary Jane style with the velcro strap is easy to take on and off and gives my daughter a secure fit that stays in place during active play.

My six year old needed a new pair of school shoes. So I ended up sending these off to be her indoor shoes, which also serve as her gym-time shoes. My girl loved the bright colour combination of neon pink and light grey. She raved to me about how comfy the shoes were and how they made her feet feel like dancing. She told me that she thought her new shoes made her super fast in gym class.

I love that these shoes are made to get wet. I love the breathable mesh sides. I  love that the Flex Darcy has a closed front and offers my daughter’s feet more protection than a sandal-style shoe would, while still being light-weight and airy. I know first hand how incredibly durable pediped shoes are, so I am confident these will come home at the end of the school year ready to stand up to whatever summertime adventures await us.

(EDIT: These ended up being my daughter’s favourite shoes. They accompanied us on MANY adventures, to beaches, splash pads and much more. She outgrew them and handed them on to her younger sister. These water play shoes survived two kids and were still ready to go on adventures with a third. )
