As someone who has run a small business, when I read about the new Payfirma iPhone Mobile Payment App I was impressed. As I’ve mentioned before, I used to sell vintage toys online. I have done several pretty successful “real world” toy shows. I have also taken part in several art shows, selling my Recycled Fairytale boxes. Like most small time vendors I had to limit my sales to cash only. I am certain I could have made more sales if I could have accepted credit cards, or even just debit. I looked into merchant accounts, and not only were they prohibitively expensive, they required access to a phone line, and also were not designed for infrequent users like myself.
I like that Payfirma is a Canadian corporation. When I read up about them on their website I was impressed to find that they offer credit card and debit processing with no monthly fees, with no cancelation fees and no setup fees, all without a contract. You just download the the iPhone Mobile Payment App to your iPhone 3G or 3GS and you can use it anywhere. I am excited that the technology is in place to finally allow this to happen!
Personally, I don’t have an iPhone, but this app is just adding to the long list of why I want one. If I ever end up putting on another toy show or art sale, I will definitely be looking into this! If like me you’ve wanted to accept debit or credit card payments, but where held back by the limitations of a merchant account, now’s the time to check out Payfirma and their new app.
