I’m pretty excited to be planning out our March Break trip to Toronto. Next weekend we’re off for a two night stay at the Eaton Chelsea. Ok, I’m not going to lie, I would prefer a sunny destination. Somewhere toasty warm, with saltwater beaches. But that’s not in the budget. Three days in Toronto is much more do-able, and to my kids every bit as exciting.
A year ago this location was know as the Delta Chelsea. For twenty some years they were owned by the Langham Hospitality Group, but operating under the Delta franchise. This past year Langham decided to launch their own North American brand, with the Eaton Chelsea as it’s flagship Canadian location. They also announced a multi-million dollar renovation for the Chelsea. My husband and I have stayed here in the past, but this will be our first visit since the big makeover / brand change.
This will also be our first stay with kids in tow and I suspect they’re going to love it. From the 130-ft Corkscrew waterslide to the Kid Centre and Club 33 Teen Lounge, the Chelsea has always been know as a family friendly destination. For March Break they are hosting a slew of family fun activities on site. Free face painting, scavenger hunts, bingo and even Segway rides, character breakfasts with Dora and Scooby Doo, a magic show, movie nights complete with free popcorn, and much more.
During March Break Camp Chelsea Day Camp will be running, allowing kids from ages 5 to 12 to attend half or full day programs from 9am to 5pm. Allowing Mom and Dad the chance to sneak away and do a little shopping or take in a show. I’m seriously considering indulging in this. I think the kids would enjoy an afternoon of camp.
And then there’s the off site deals. Eaton Chelsea has partnered with a number of attractions, offering discounts through their “Show Your Key and Save” program. It’s an extensive list, covering everything from the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Royal Ontario Museum to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada and the Legoland Discovery Centre, and offering from 10% to 50% off your ticket prices. For a family of four that’s a savings that can add up pretty fast. We’re planning on hitting the Ontario Science Centre. By showing our room key we can save 20% on the ticket price, which I think adds up to over $18 saved, just on that one attraction.
The Eaton Chelsea is offering an awesome March Break package deal where you can stay from $159 per night, including parking, $25 in food credit, and a $20 Cadillac Fairview Shop Card to spend at the Eaton Centre. Also if you’re dining on site, kids under 5 eat for free, and kids who are 6-12 years old eat at half price. Which is going to stretch that $25 dining credit even farther. Plus don’t forget about the potential savings from the “Show Your Key and Save” program. All of which makes that $159 a night package sound like a pretty darn good deal.
