Head Back to School with DUDLEY Backpacks

August 29, 2012 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

I had a chance to check out the new dudley backback and they’re pretty darn impressive looking. However they are much much too large for my five year old. So while she won’t be lugging this bag to kindergarten with her, I am most definitely setting it aside to use in a few years.

This bag is seriously made to carry! The lightly padded straps aren’t bulky at all, and are nice and wide for weight distribution. There’s also a gel pad where the pack would rest against your back, and another for where it would connect with the small of your back. Brilliant stuff.

There are four small zippered side compartments. One to either side at the waist, one to either side on the front, as well as easy access net-style pouches.

But where this bag really shines is on the inside! First there’s a small card sized pouch, perfect for student card or bus pass. Just past that is a large padded compartment is the ideal spot to store a netbook, laptop or tablet (or heck, even a binder). In front of there is a spot to store two pens or pencils, and two smaller compartments which would be great place to squirrel away a calculator or protractor set (do they still use those?) The main compartment is generously sized, and should easily fit several text books.

See the nice wide adjustable shoulder straps? There is also a “ear bud access” spot, that allows you to store tech in the main compartment and thread the earphones out the hole for easy listening.

The smaller front compartment has two longer pouches, just the right depth for a water bottle, or a pencil case.

Overall the bag is very sturdy. The fabric seems very durable and the many zippers are well constructed and easy to open and shut. The bag also had a solid molded plastic base (under the fabric exterior) which helps maintain it’s shape and makes it easy to set down. High quality stuff.

dudley obviously put some thought into designing their new backpacks. I love the padding, I love the many small compartments, making it easy for your kid to keep their bag organized. It is really the perfect bag for a highschool or university student, or even an older elementary school kid.

These bags retail for $49.99. They come in 5 different colours: black, white, blue, yellow and pink, and are available only at Staples Canada.
