Have you heard about Kraft’s Real Women of Philadelphia cooking competition?  If you love cooking with Philadelphia Cream Cheese, this ones for you!

You could star in a cooking video produced by Kraft!  Isn’t that cool?  Not to mention a shot at $20,000.  Sixteen finalists will have an all-expense paid trip to the Kraft Canada kitchens in Toronto this summer to compete in a cook-off.  Then four grand prize winners will be chosen to contribute to Kraft’s Real Women of Philadelphia, take part in cool Kraft cooking videos, and receive $20,000 each.  (Head over to their page for complete rules and details.)  Doesn’t that sound awesome?  I would love even just to be one of the finalists. Getting to visit the Kraft Canada kitchens would be a real treat!

To enter you just need to share a recipe that features Philadelphia Cream Cheese.  Your submission needs to be in the form of a video. That’s right, you need to create a video of you preparing your favourite Philly recipe.   Each week there is a different theme that your entry needs to fit.  For example, last week it was appetizers, this week it’s sidedishes.

There are still three weeks left to submit your video:
WEEK 6 – SIDE DISH starts Monday, May16, 2011
WEEK 7 – ENTRÉE DISH starts Monday, May 23, 2011
WEEK 8 – DESSERT starts Monday, May 30, 2011

One of the things I really love about this contest is that the winners will be selected by a panel of judges led by Food Network’s Anna Olson.  It’s not a popularity contest.  There’s no voting (or trying to coax your friends into voting for you) involved.

If like me, you’re a little camera shy, I would still recommend heading over to  www.realwomenofphiladelphia.ca and signing up to take part in their community.  It’s a great chance to find new recipes and connect with others. Chef Anna Olson offers helpful cooking and kitchen organizational tips, there is a forum for hooking up with fellow Canadian cooks, and you get to browse through all the fantastic video submissions.  Now would be a great time as they are offering 10,000 coupons for $1.00 off of Philadelphia Cream Cheese to members of the site.
I took a look through the videos that have been posted so far.  There are some totally yummy recipes that have been submitted.  I was surprised however, in that there weren’t as many submissions as I thought there would be. So if you have a Philadelphia Cream Cheese based recipe to share and are willing to make a video, I’d say you have pretty decent odds of becoming a finalist.  If you enter I want to hear about it!  Send me a link to your video submission.  I’d love to see what awesome recipes you guys have to share.
