I can’t see a butter tart without thinking of my American sister-in-law. Butter tarts top her Must Eat While in Canada food list. Really until she started making such a fuss over them I had no clue butter tarts were a distinctively Canadian cuisine.
If you’re somehow not familiar with this sticky treat, it’s butter, sugar and eggs mixed to form a sweet runny mixture, in a flaky pie crust tart. I had the pleasure of eating this particularly perfect specimen while on a Foodie Tour of Leslieville in Toronto as part of my experiences during TBEX (Travel Bloggers Conference).
