Go for the food. Oh my goodness, go for the food. The food in Puerto Vallarta was consistently amazing. This was the first thing I ate after landing, lunch at the CasaMagna Marriott Resort at their beachside restaurant, Las Casitas. For the location alone the meal was noteworthy. Las Casitas is open to the air, but we were out of the sun, with a lovely breeze and a gorgeous view of the beach. We could have hopped the railing and dipped our toes in sand.
However, the restaurant wasn’t only great because it was a lovely spot to sit, chat and decompress after our flight. The food was great. Not merely ok, or good, it was truly fantastic. I had avocado stuffed with a fresh seafood salad. I skipped the alcoholic drink list and opted for a lemonade, which was perfect, tart and not sweet. The other blogger I was lunching with (Kim from Tales of a Ranting Ginger) opted for Mahi Mahi and rice, which she assured me was also fantastic. There was a bread basket with some sort of pastry roll with soft fresh cheese in it, which I seriously could have eaten half a dozen of. We shared fresh chips, salsa and guacamole. I skipped dessert but had a perfect cup of coffee, with a lovely crest of crema on top. Even black, it felt decadent. Overall truly a wonderful lunch, in the perfect location. Amazing.
This marked the start of a great five days in Puerto Vallarta. I’ll have more to say about the foodie portion of my adventures, but for now I will simply say I was consistently wowed by the food in this lovely beach resort city, frequently pleasantly surprised and overall awed by how fresh and tasty everything was.
What about you folks? Every been to Puerto Vallarta? or other parts of Mexico? What did you think of the food?
Disclosure: I was invited to Puerto Vallarta as part of a press trip. As always my words and opinions are my own.
