Looking for Healthy Choices for 2015? Check out the Fall line up from The Healthy Shopper {Giveaway}

December 24, 2014 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

I think by now you all have a pretty good idea of how much I love The Healthy Shopper. This nifty Canadian website focuses on all natural, organic, healthy choices, and offers coupons for healthy products. The Healthy Shopper is the brain child of Andrea Donsky a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N.) and Randy Boyer a life-long advocate of healthy living and eating. These ladies are dedicated to sharing the benefits of a natural and healthy lifestyle with the world. They believe you can have it all, just without the chemical additives– which they refer to as ‘The Scary Seven’ – a list of ingredients including: High-Fructose Corn Syrup, Artificial Sweeteners, MSG, Artificial Flavors, Trans Fat, Artificial Colors, and Preservatives. (For further insights on healthy food alternatives check out their book UNJUNK YOUR JUNK FOOD, Healthy Alternatives to Conventional Snacks).

The heart of The Healthy Shopper site is their coupon booklet. They offer online e-coupons as well as a physical coupon book, which you should be able to find in stores across Canada. And if that doesn’t work you can always order a free copy online (you’ll just need to pay for shipping and handling). The website also features product reviews, recipes and articles on healthy living; aka in general it’s a site that’s just worth visiting — www.thehealthyshopper.ca

Twice a year The Healthy Shopper gathers up some of their favourite healthy products and publishes a list of seasonal picks. My family has been introduced to many amazing products over the years thanks to their seasonal picks. Products that have become favourites, which we now use regularly. More recently I had a chance to check out their picks for Fall 2014, and as always I was impressed with the selection.

Olympic Dairy – Olympic Dairy’s yogurt is a staple in our household. 100% Canadian owned and operated, Olympic Dairy uses only natural ingredients and its products don’t contain any preservatives, gelatin or gluten. The Olympic Chia Balkan style yogurt is a 100% natural probiotic yogurt that contains three active probiotic cultures, plus chia seeds. Chia is considered a super food, it’s a source of protein and fiber and it’s the richest plant-source of healthy Omega 3 oil (important for heart and cholesterol health). Olympic Chia Balkan style yogurt is available in plain, strawberry or vanilla.

Simply Natural
– Simply Natural is a company that makes condiments and sauces that are organic, fat-free with zero trans fats and don’t contain high fructose corn syrup. They’re also low in sodium, gluten-free and non-GMO. For the Fall 2014 pick The Healthy Shopper is featuring their pasta sauce line up; Tomato and Basil, Tomato and Roasted Garlic, Fra Diavolo and Vodka Cream.

Pamela’s Gluten Free – This season The Healthy Shopper is featuring Pamela’s Sugar Cookie Mix & Pamela’s Artisan Flour Blend. Over the years I’ve tried out many various gluten free mixes from Pamela’s and they’ve always been a hit. I’m consistently impressed with how yummy Pamela’s mixes are, and these sugar cookies were no exception. While the Artisan Flour was perfect for subbing into “regular” recipes.

Allimax – Allimax is a herbal supplement composed of allicin, the active component of garlic. Known as nature’s antibiotic, Allicin helps to boost your immune system and prevent colds and flu. Allimax uses a sophisticated patented to extract the allicin from garlic and lock into into a convenient odour-free one-a-day capsule.

Hyland’s – To get you through cold and flu season, The Healthy Shopper has chosen Hyland’s Homeopathic Baby Cough Syrup and Baby Tiny Cold Tablets. Hyland’s Baby Cough Syrup is a naturally sweetened safe way to soothe babies six months and up, by relieving the harsh symptoms of coughing. And their Baby Tiny Cold Tablets, which instantly dissolve in your child’s mouth, are ideal for cold sniffles, runny noses and congestions.

Made Good – These were probably my personal favourite from this season’s picks, Made Good granola bars and granola minis are a peanut free organic snack that’s perfect for munching on at home or slipping into my daughter’s lunch box. They are delicious and sneakily healthy; each bar contains one full serving of vegetables.
