Made Good Granola BALLS, Best Thing Ever {Review}

January 6, 2015 by Deanna Tousignant 1 Comment

Twice a year The Healthy Shopper put out a list of seasonal picks, their personal top list of healthy products that they feel everyone ought to try. For the last few seasons I’ve been lucky enough to receive a review packet containing their chosen products, and while it’s always a solid line up each season I find the ONE thing that I am super excited about having been introduced to. The one thing that is now a Must Have item for my household. For the Fall 2014 picks it was granola bars, or more specifically actually granola balls.

We were sent several boxes of Made Good granola bars and several bags of Made Good granola minis. Both the bars and the minis are organic, made from whole grains, non-GMO-verified, and peanut free. That peanut free part is wonderful news, as it means I can safely slip them into my daughter’s lunch box. The bars are good, a bit chewy, soft, and quite yummy. And they are also one more sneaky tool in my “get vegetables into my children” arsenal, as each serving (aka one granola bar) contains a full serving of vegetables. And this isn’t just some diced carrots they snuck in there, it’s a mix of six different vegetables (spinach, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, beets and shiitake mushrooms) ground down into powdered form, and completely unnoticeable.

However the best part is the granola minis. These are like little granola balls, and my kids can’t get enough of them. Seriously, if I let them they would eat them by the bowl full. I like that I can open up a bag and take a few balls and add it to a snack container with some dried or fresh fruit and give my kids a healthy snack that they go crazy for. And like the granola bars the ball version is packed with sneaky vegetables and whole grains.

The granola bars come in Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Chip and Mixed Berry. The granola minis (aka balls) come in Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Banana and Strawberry. Oh my goodness, do yourself a favour and try the strawberry ones! Made Good granola bars and minis are available at Metro, Loblaws, Zehrs and other grocery and health food shops across Canada (take a peek at their website for the full list), or you can buy them online at Well.ca.
