I was kind of surprised to find out that The Big Comfy Couch is touring, as the show is no longer in production. It’s even stranger when you consider the fact that Treehouse is no longer airing episodes. However, I am certainly not complaining! We have a few DVDs of The Big Comfy Couch and it’s a show that G-Girl really enjoys. She is Very Excited about heading out to the event.
Even if you’re not in Windsor, you can catch the show. The Big Comfy Couch is touring across Canada. You can check out the Treehouse Live website for a complete list of tour dates and locations.
Have any of you ever been to a Treehouse live event? How was it? Did the kids enjoy themselves? If you end up going let me know what you think of it.
EDIT:
We went to the Friday afternoon show. Contrary to the info I received from the Devonshire Mall rep there was no stroller check and there was no merchandise table.
The show itself was fantastic. Loonette had a heck of a lot of energy and a great stage presence. There was an actual giant Big Comfy Couch on stage along with a puppeteered Molly doll and the dust bunnies even made an appearance. The show didn’t feel too short. The length was just right vs. the comfort factor of sitting on the mall floor. Plus my daughter’s attention was just starting to wander when things drew to a close.
After the show you had the option of lining up to “meet” Dorothy the Dinosaur. Some folks were posing for pictures with the costumed character. We waited in line and G-Girl got a dinosaur hug. When you exited the que there was a table full of goodies. The loot consisted of fruitie snacks, juice boxes, a Wiggles themed door hanger and a free parenting magazine. I did appreciate that the juice boxes and fruit snacks were Sun Rype brand; 100% juice with no sugar added.
Overall, I’d recommend it as a fun, free, short outing for younger kids.
