I’ve got a big announcement to make, this Maple Leaf Mommy is going stateside. The multi-national company my husband works for has decided to transfer him to a US location, and so we’ve packed up and moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
On a personal note it means I may get to see my American family members more often. Though ironically, by moving to the States I actually end up a few hours further away from my brother who lives in Kentucky.
The thing is, when it comes to the blog I’m at a bit of a loss. I’ve built Maple Leaf Mommy around Canadian content, and my pride in being a Canadian, but now because of a sudden change in my husband’s work situation, I find myself in the U.S.A.
It seems silly to focus on small Canadian retailers if I’m no longer living in Canada. I’ll also obviously no longer be able to host the Canucks Rock: All Canadian Link Up or the Great Canadian Giveaway Linky. And I think my policy of hosting only giveaways which are available to Canada is also going to have to change.
So do I ditch the blog and start over? Do I hand Maple Leaf Mommy off to someone else? Or maybe I should just change the name and become A Canadian Peach in Georgia? or go whole hog and rebrand as Star Spangled Mama? or maybe Stars and Stripes Mommy? What do you think? Can a Maple Leaf Mommy go All American?
I will really miss the Cnd only sweeps as I try to do that only. There is enough US only sweeps out there and having to compete with another whole country besides mine is just not worth the little bit of time I do this as a hobby (and I feel for you cus now you have to get into the income tax thing because every single US sweep is taxed, even when they win a choc bar!!) Good luck in your move and congrats to your husband (mines unemployed as the company he worked for went broke)
I lived in Georgia for 5 years, absolutely beautiful. We are moving back to the states! To Ohio first …
wishing your husband all the best! Congrats!
