I’m pretty excited about the fact that Max & Ruby are coming to Windsor! Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite is going to be showing at the Chrysler theatre for one performance only, December 30th at 1pm. The fact that the show takes place after Christmas makes it the perfect holiday gift. I’m putting tickets to this show under the tree and I know my kids are going to be over moon at the idea of seeing Max & Ruby live!
It’s a glistening snowy winter evening and Max and Ruby have been anxiously waiting for the most spectacular event of the year: seeing The Nutcracker ballet with Grandma. Imagine their disappointment when a snow storm keeps them at home!
A story of the Nutcracker will have to do! So vivid is Grandma’s storytelling that the characters in the ballet come to life right before their very eyes!
Max and Ruby marvel at the sight of many enchanting guests, including a Spanish bullfighter, the Sugar Plum Fairy and a runaway gingerbread man. Ruby is eager to participate in their exquisite dance, but it’s Max who steals the show! Whether it was the sweets, or their lively imaginations, Max and Ruby head off to bed with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads!
This will be my first time attending a Koba Entertainment production, but I have heard really great things from friends and family about some of their previous live tours, like Max & Ruby’s Bunny Party and Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon.
I love that they’re made this tour a holiday themed show, Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite, inspired by Tchaikovsky’s classic Nutcracker Suite. Last year I took a then 4 year old G-Girl to see the Nutcracker Suite performed by the Bolshoi Ballet live via satellite. While it was a great show I have a sinking suspicion she’s going to enjoy this version a heck of a lot more. Plus this sounds pretty darn impressive:
Set to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky as well as delightful original songs, this 90-minute event boasts captivating original choreography by Patti Caplette – who has professionally danced in over 100 ballet performances of the Nutcracker with Canada’s leading dance companies: Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet – beautiful costumes by designer, Anne Armit, and breathtaking sets by Gemini Award-winner, Brian Purchaluk.
Of course Max & Ruby aren’t just coming to Windsor. The tour also has stops in Saskatoon, Regina, Hamilton, Peterborough, Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, Pembroke, Guelph, Oshawa, London and Chatham. Whew. That’s quite the list.
