Medium Maileg Mouse, a Little Cool Toy

April 2, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 14 Comments

I am utterly in love with the Maileg line of stuffed animals.  I can not say enough good things about these toys.  They are well made, with a high attention to detail.  They are sturdy, adorable, and just all around wonderful!  These are high quality heirloom pieces that your kid will have forever.

Little Cool Toys sent us a lovely medium sized girl mouse, which has become great friends with both of my girls. At 11 inches I think she is just the perfect size! Neither too big nor too small.  G-Girl told me with some excitement that she looks just like her ‘tend mousie friends.  She also told me that Miss Bumpo Mouse is not for snuggling because she is not fluffy she is “thick”.  It wasn’t a complaint, more of a statement of fact, as the doll is fairly dense and can actually sit up on her own. Regardless of what she said, five minutes later G-Girl was cuddling up with her new mouse. I love that she can get the mouse’s removable dress on and off on her own.

Unlike on the smaller Maileg mice,
the tail is not leather, but cotton.
G-Girl was pretty excited about her new mouse friend.  She really surprised me by suddenly stating, “You know Baby-G can have this mouse, it’s safe.”  And before I could even say yes, she was across the room handing the mouse off to her sister.  “This big mouse is for her.”  I was somewhat shocked and asked if she didn’t like the new mouse?  “Or no, I like her very much! But I have a little mouse and I want Baby-G to have one too.” Too sweet!  And Baby-G loves the mouse.  It’s the first stuffed dolls she’s really connected with.  She gives it hugs and sloppy kisses and feeds her pretend cookies. It has become her must have bedtime friend.

You may remember that G-Girl was completely enchanted with her wee Maileg mouse until it mysteriously disappeared.  I did end up buying her a replacement, a cute little brown boy mouse who is a bit of a drag queen as Miss Mousie left her removable skirt behind when she took off for Cherry Blaus.

I love the Maileg mice in both sizes.  But right now I am particularly loving that the medium sized mouse is safe for my still needs to chew on everything 13 month old. The wee mice with their long leather tails are adorable but definitely not recommended for under 3 years old.  I think these guys would be so perfect for tucking in an Easter  basket. I’ve already purchased a wee Maileg rabbit and set it aside for G-Girl.

Little Cool Toys is a small Canadian retailer from Quebec. Their website features an awesome line up of natural, eco-friendly, and handmade toys.  They are one of the few places in North America to carry Maileg toys.  Little Cool Toys has an Easter sale on right now – enter the code easter11 and receive a 15% discount storewide, good until until April 24.

EDIT: I later revisted this item. Check out my review recap here to discover how this item did over the long haul.

EDIT: Unfortunately Little Cool Toys has closed up shop. As the website is no longer active I’ve removed any links heading to it from this post.

We received a medium and a small Maileg mouse from Little Cool Toys. My opinions are my own and were not influenced by the company, or by the free product received.

They are both too cute for words and it was so sweet that G-Girl shared with Baby-G.
