Mini Lalaloopsy Doll, revisted.

September 25, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

A while back I had the chance to check out one of the cute Mini Lalaloopsy Dolls, and it didn't go over all that well with my then three-year old Rainbow.  However, I had a feeling an older kid would appreciate the doll, so I found her a home with my friend Kim's daughter. Now, here is Kim with a guest review  on their experiences with the doll: When I found out for my … [Read more...]

Review of the Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Alarm Clock

May 5, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 22 Comments

We received a Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Alarm Clock for review. The clock is small, about 8 inches high.  The two alarm bells on top are actually buttons which make silly sounds when you press down on them.  The red bit in the centre lights up when the alarm sounds. The small hand on the clock is inset and built into the clock face.  The big hand is designed to be pushed … [Read more...]

Mini Lalaloopsy Dolls { Review }

April 29, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 10 Comments

When I was given the chance to review a Mini Lalaloopsy Doll, I snapped at it, because, well they look so darn cute!  How could I say no? The Mini Lalaloopsy Dolls are small all plastic versions of the Lalaloopsy Dolls. The main difference between the Minis and their larger counterparts is that instead of removeable cloth costumes they have plastic molded clothes.  They are … [Read more...]

What are you putting in your Easter Basket?

April 7, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 4 Comments

April's here and Easter is fast approaching.  What are you going to tuck in your little one's basket? My husband grew up with a childhood tradition of receiving a new stuffed rabbit each year in his Easter basket.  I love that idea, so we’ve adopted it.  This years stuffed rabbit for G-Girl will be this Maileg beauty that I bought and set aside for her. As I've mentioned … [Read more...]

Silk Fishing Pond, Fun to Play

April 4, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 359 Comments

Bumblebee Toys was kind enough to send us a Silk Fishing Pond by Sarah's Silks to try out.  The set includes a small blue playsilk to use as "water", five wee sea creatures to catch, and two fishing poles.  The wooden fishing poles have magnets on the end of their line which you use to catch the sea creatures.  The sea critters include three little fish, a seahorse and a … [Read more...]

Cate & Levi Reclaimed Sweater Hand Puppets

March 29, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 167 Comments

Giving Gifts was kind enough to hook us up with this awesome Cate & Levi frog puppet. The puppet we received is well made and fun to play with.  Because various different pieces/colours of wool were used to create him there are many seams on the puppet and all of them are very nicely stitched.  He is quite sturdy and looks like he'll last a long time.  I love that the … [Read more...]

Sarah’s Silks from Bumblebee Toys { Review }

March 26, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 13 Comments

When G-Girl was about two years old I was searching online for age appropriate activities and I started reading a lot of buzz about playsilks. I read about what a wonderful multipurpose toy they were, and how they fueled the imagination and the senses.  I loved the concept, so I started looking around to purchase some.  In the end, I figured why did I need to order playsilks … [Read more...]

Froggie Went a Courtin’…

March 24, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 3 Comments

For the second time now we've managed to misplace something for review before I was able to take any pictures of the girls playing with it. I'm mortified. I just spent the last three days tearing the place apart looking for this cool Cate & Levi frog puppet that Lisa over at Giving Gifts sent us. Rainbow was getting frustrated with me this morning, as I insisted that … [Read more...]

E is for… Electronic, Speak & Spell {Retro Toybox}

February 18, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 4 Comments

What's electronic, educational, and was featured in the film E.T.?  The classic Texas Instruments Speak & Spell! My brother and I has a blast playing with our Speak & Spells when we were young. We actually had two, one for each of us.  For something that taught spelling, it sure was fun.  I remember enjoying the built in spelling games, like hangman,  I also … [Read more...]

D is for… Dark Tower { Retro Toybox }

February 13, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant 2 Comments

Dark Tower "Dare to lay siege to the Dark Tower!" Dark Tower was an electronic board game put out by Milton Bradley in 1981.  Playing as a brave warrior knight, with dozens of warrior followers, you faced down marauding dragons, fought evil brigands, haggled with merchants, and explored temples and tombs, all with cool music and sound effects. The game … [Read more...]

C is for… Captain Power {Retro Toybox}

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future  Power On! I know I originally said I was going to do an A to Z in vintage toys... but I'm finding it pretty much impossible to discuss 80s toys without talking about the TV series that they were tied into. Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future came out in 1987. It was a live action TV series which tied in with … [Read more...]

About a month ago now I received a surprise package from Little Cool Toys full of goodies for my girls.  In it was a lovely wee Maileg mouse, which unfortunately my daughter promptly lost, and a delightful set of BoiKido Blocks.  The blocks were set aside and later placed under the tree as a gift from Santa to Rocket. Both of the girls are enchanted with these blocks.  In … [Read more...]
