Last week I dusted off my old Fisher Price Record Player, which I’ve had since I was 5 years old, maybe longer. I dug through the record collection (yes, I still have a record collection) and pulled out such childhood gems as Disco Mickey Mouse and The World of Strawberry Shortcake and spent the afternoon listening to LPs with my 4 year old.
I’ve got to say, that Fisher Price Record Player, man it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I’m surprised by how sturdy this thing is, and how it’s still going strong thirty some years later. My 4 year old was entranced with the record player. She just sat and stared at it and watched it play music, very intently, very seriously, for at least 45 minutes straight. Magic.
Anyone else still have an LP collection? Ever showed a record to your kid?
I didn’t have a fisher price record player but I did have a record player. I’m not sure of your age but I think we’re from the same era and I can remember playing my records like Shaun Cassidy, Andy Gibb and the Bay City Rollers. Ah, it’s nice going down memory lane.
