I’m stepping down. I just can’t keep up with this blogging thing. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging, but it’s time intensive. I’ve received a ridiculously lucrative job offer, and because of the hours involved I don’t believe I will have the time required to blog.
I’ve been wondering what to do with my site. I thought about putting it up for sale, but after much debate I’ve decided to GIVE IT AWAY. So here it is, my final and BIGGEST Blog Giveaway Ever.
What you will win:
- Ownership of this blog, Maple Leaf Mommy, a PR 3 blog, with over 11,000 pageviews a month.
- The domain name “www.mapleleafmommy.com”, which has been prepaid for the next five years.
- Ownership of associated social media accounts (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and G+).
- Ownership of the gmail account mapleleafmommy@gmail.com, as well as access to my archived email full of contact info for well over a hundred PR reps.
FINE PRINT:
Maple Leaf Mommy is a proudly Canadian site, so I ask that only Canadians enter to win ownership of the blog. The winner will be required to provide proof of Canadian citizenship by faxing me a copy of their birth certificate, or driver’s license.
My image and personal name will be removed from the website. The winner does not have the right to use my name(Deanna T.), claim to be me, or write in my name. They will also not gain access to my children, or the right to use their images in any posts going forward.
The winner will be responsible for producing their own content, starting April 2nd, 2012. At the winner’s request I would be willing to provide paid guest posts on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.
I currently have product in my house that I have received with intent to review. The winner must agree that I will retain ownership of these items, but that they will produce timely written reviews (and host giveaways as requested).
I may choose a winner based on merit, or my own personal whims, or if I can’t make up my mind I may just draw randomly (bribes graciously accepted).
I will really miss you.
I am interested in being the next Maple Leaf Mommy! I admit I would have some learning to do, but have a good friend who could help me with what I don't know. I'm a stay at home mom, with lots of time on my hands because our youngest started school this past year. I already spend quite a bit of time online, and would love this opportunity!
Sorry to see you leave. Good luck with your new endeavours.
You are a sneaky one. 🙂
I think if I won this blog, I might re-design some things but not all. I would keep pretty well everything as is.
I am interested as I want to start blogging for quite sometime already but just don't know how to do template, button etc. I would love to host giveaways and I love to blog about travels, baby stuff and family too!
Happy April Fools to you!!! No way you are not going anywhere!!!! Sad news if it is real!
Wow, I don't think I could do this! I've been working full-time since January and you are right, there is NO time for blogging. I only have 2 outstanding reviews and then I'll just let the blog hang in the open space I guess…I'm sad you're leaving! But real job and family are definitely more important.Good luck!P.S. Just read the last comment. April's Fools? You better not! This would be too much!
If this is not an april fools, I would run it as is and keep it very Canadian!
So sad to see you go…I do however wish you all the best in your new position. Sometimes things change and you need to move along with them. I hope your new job is wonderful! You will be sincerely missed. Here's hoping that you will find the best person to fill your shoes, although it will be tough to do. :-)Best of luck!
I hope this is an April Fools thing, I'll miss your sense of humor!
I often wonder how you guys do it, the hours on the blog, doing the contests cus thats gotta take up a tremendous amout of time and then your families. I know that I will be giving up quite a few hrs doing sweeps cus of my work place (I am now back fulltime after being off for surgery since nov) and in the summer time I work up to 10hrs a day, so my priorities go to feeding the family. (I have to work , its not a choice, I rather liked sitting at home for the 4 months doing nothing but tidying up)And I have no idea how the moms of youngsters do it, running a blog etc. (mine are older teens so they're fully trained already, both work and during holidays are known to leave for relatives for the whole time)I will miss you , YOU personally, but hope to still follow your blog, with whomever takes over. Best of luck
I would probably keep it as it is with a few modifications to personalize it. I do have a blog but not a kid friendly one as I am not a parent. Sorry to see you go, best of luck in all you do!
I love the name even though I have one already and will miss you terribly! If it's a joke you got us good, if not I wish you the very best hun on your new job offer and good luck to the next person who wins the position.
Hilarious. I thought the comment about the winner not getting your kids was a bit obvious but you never know these days. What really gave it away was that the winner had to provide reviews even though you got to keep the content. Now, THAT is a joke (smile).I love all the comments about people sorry to see you go. But, maybe the jokes on us non-believers!?swak50 at hotmail dot com

if this is april fool's – yikes, what a doozy!and if not, it'll be sad to see you go. I've really enjoyed all of your hard work and how unbelievably honest you are with your readers. thanks again!
Me: Oh, Marian (Maple Leaf Mommy), if only 'twere me.You: Oh, if 'twere you, 'twould be… twerrific. »
This is an April Fools joke for sure, am I right? If so it's a good one!!! If not, sorry to see you go and one interesting name on the list who does not already own the blog that might be awesome!
So…this is interesting. Because here I am, a mom to two kids, working at my PR agency three days a week and mere days away from setting up my own blog. I have a domain name picked out, was about to pay some big bucks for some shutterstock images and enlisted my brother-in-law who is an SEO expert to help me navigate the intricacies of the whole social web thing. I am a mommy first, a writer second. And product-obsessed. My blog was going to be all about honest reviews (in fact, I have content written for 12 reviews already!). I know how time-consuming blogging is, which is why it's taken me so long to bite the bullet and just do it already. I'm ready; the time is right. And I would do you proud! I'm all about honesty with a twist of humour (that's right, humour with a "u" because I am ALL Canadian), and my intent with my own blog was to treat it like a conversation with my girlfriends, who often turn to me for advice when it comes to baby and kid gear. So…take a chance on me – a fellow Maple Leaf Mommy. @andrea_traynor
You are aware that April Fools jokes are pulled on April 1st, not March 31st?
I posted it a couple of minutes before minute. Like around 11:5pm, and set the giveaway to run all day for April 1st. So I screwed up in that the post ended up dated Mar.31st… but really it was up for all of five minutes on the 31st.
