When I was fixating on my Grandma’s stuff the Chief Blond, over at Still Blond After All these Years suggested I take part in her Declutter 365 Challenge. At that time, I decided I would indeed take her up on the challenge but I’ve yet to post anything about it.
The idea behind the Declutter 365 Challenge is to organize and tidy up your place by getting rid of stuff, donating or tossing one item per day. In an effort to keep myself motivated to list stuff on eBay I’ve modified my personal challenge to sell, donate, or toss. As far as I’m concerned, anything heading on a one way trip out my door is a step in the right direction.
To be honest, I don’t think I’ve come anywhere near the one item per day quota. However, I am happy that I’ve managed to clear out some junk. Also the “charity box” has been a great springboard for conversations with my three year old, which has led to me explaining the concept of charity to her and why we donate to others. As the current disorganized state of my house is starting to drive me insane, I anticipate that I’ll be chucking many more items in the days to come.
If you’re interested in joining the challenge head on over to Still Blond After All These Years. There are some pretty cool prizes up for grabs for those who take part. Let me know if you decide to join in!
I am definitely going to join — I need a way to get motivated to clean and purge. If only I could get the rest of my family motivated too…this place is driving me nuts!! Thanks for the challenge:)
Thanks Maple Leaf Mommy for letting all know about the Decluttering challenge. Month 3 starts in the next few days! I am proud of you for your accomplishments to date!
I love this idea! My husband and I are getting ready to move in a couple of months and I am trying to clear out as well!
