You guys know that as a P&G Mom I receive monthly care packs full of Procter & Gamble goodies. Much I keep for myself, some I donate, and some I give to my mom. Four times now they’ve sent Downy Unstopables to my house, and four times now I’ve passed them along to my mother. Each time she says thanks and tell me how excited she is to get more. Apparently she’s totally in love with them.
Me? Most artificial scents make me nauseous I go out of my way to try and find unscented laundry detergent (And hey, while we’re on that subject, where the heck are my unscented Tide Pods? Someone needs to make these and pronto). So the idea of adding a scent booster to my laundry isn’t appealing at all.
Hubby on the other hand LOVES artificial scents. The stronger, and in my opinion, the stinkier, the better. We had one of those scent negotiation moments again when he discovered 1)that Downy Unstopables exist and 2)that I’ve been smuggling them out of the house and giving them away to my mom. “Why the heck aren’t we using them?” he wanted to know, and I also got to hear the now standard accusation of “You just don’t like anything that smells good.”
So for those of you who have tried Downy Unstopables, I’d love your opinion. Am I missing out on something here? Should I call my mom and demand a bottle back, or maybe hit the store and pick up a container? I am trying to have an open mind here, but I really can’t see washing my clothes in “extra scent”. I guess they might be ok on say a load of towels? or hey, maybe hubby’s stinky socks?
I’m also curious as to how you deal with moments like this with your own spouse, when there’s a product they are interested in that you might be less then gung-ho about?
Disclosure:
I’m a P&G Mom, and as such I receive products and special access to P&G events and opportunities. As always the opinions on this blog are my own.
Don't give in! I'm on my third washing, trying to rid my clothes of toxic smelling residue. This stuff is not okay. Use with caution and stay far away from people with sensitivity issues.
Couldn’t get the smell out of my wash and ended up having to throw my clothes away. Unstoppables gave me a debilitating migraine.
