Hubby really likes the Old Spice line because sometimes his work can get a little active and he finds the Old Spice antiperspirant actually keeps him covered all day long. His new favourite is Old Spice Matterhorn. He’s actually really fond of the Old Spice Fiji, but I can’t stand the smell of it.
You ever watch the BBC sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf? Every time I say Fiji, in my head I hear it in Lister’s voice. “I’m going to buy meself a little farm on Fiji. And I’m going to get a sheep and a cow, and breed horses.” Or as The Cat calls it, “The Promised Land of Fuchal”. Why would you want to smell like Fuchal?
My husband and I had an argument one day that went something like this:
Me: Why did you go out and buy that Fiji scent again?
Hubby: Because I like it.
Me: But dude, I can’t stand the smell of it.
Him: That because you just don’t like anything that smells GOOD.
Me: I mean you want to smell like something your wife thinks stinks?
Him: Again I say you just don’t like anything that smells GOOD.
Me: And again I say, why would you want to wear something I think stinks??
Which eventually led to the two of us standing in the deodorant aisle at Shoppers Drug Mart taking the tops off of various deodorants, sniffing them, and getting weird stares from other folks in the store. After careful negotiations and dozens of scent tests we agreed on Old Spice Matterhorn, which is what he’s been wearing for a couple of months now.
Old Spice’s newest addition to the destination themed line-up is Belize, which I actually quite like the smell of. What do you think of the Old Spice antiperspirant/deodorant line? Have you ever undergone “scent negotiations” with your partner?
