Summertime Sun Protection to Help Keep You Looking Ageless with Olay

June 26, 2016 by Deanna Tousignant 66 Comments

This July Olay is coming out with two new SPF 30 products, the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream with SPF 30 and the Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer with SPF 30. Now, I love the idea of a moisturizer that has sun protection built in, but I already have a favourite, so I wondered how these new products would compare.

Olay Total Effects and Olay Regenerist now with SPF 30 sun protection

I am such a geek. I actually sat and read over the list of active ingredients and compared them between each of the three bottles, the new Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, the new Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer, and my old trusty bottle of Olay Complete SPF 30 Defense All Day Moisturizer For Sensitive Skin, trying to figure out what the difference is.

My mom laughed at me when she happened to stop by while I was in the middle of, well, basically making comparison charts. She looked over the three bottles, glanced at the list of ingredients, and explained it to me this way, “Okay, the one you’re using right now is a moisturizer with SPF, this one here is a moisturiser with SPF plus some stuff to make your skin look younger and fight wrinkles, and this one here is a bottle of magical unicorn and pixie dust, which will make your skin have better texture, more elasticity, less wrinkles, and also be protected from the sun. You want bottle number three, kid.”

Take this with a grain of salt guys. My mom is not a dermatologist, she’s just an old lady that happens to love the Olay Regenerist line a whole lot. However since she is way more into lotions and potions than I am, and presumably a heck of a lot more knowledgeable, I was willing to go along with her pixie dust explanation.

List of key ingredients in Olay Regenerist with SPF 30
Official side of the box type stuff, not quite unicorn and pixie dust after all.

So on my mom’s advice I’ve been trying out Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream with SPF 30. I’ve used it for the past week. I like the feeling of it. It’s not greasy, my skin absorbs it really quickly and it doesn’t leave my face looking shiny. It also doesn’t smell bad.

I hate to admit it, but I’m in my forties and my skin has some weird texture things going on. Rough patches, dry patches, just weird stuff that magically showed up on my 41st birthday, and well, I wouldn’t be sad to see them off. I think the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream has been helping to improve the texture of my skin, but then again that could just be the fact that I’ve actually been trying to apply moisturizer every day.

I am trying to make it part of my daily routine, but to be honest I’ve been hit or miss with actually applying it every morning. However I did wear the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream on days when I knew I would be heading outside, when I hit the farmer’s market, or when I went to my daughter’s school picnic. I’ve been outside on some sweltering bright sunshiny days and this stuff has held up well as a far as sun protection goes.

Olay sun protection for ageless skin.

Overall, so far, the verdict is out. I’m undecided as to whether I would buy more of this, when the bottle runs out, or return to my old favourite, which has a slightly lower price tag.

What about you folks? Do you use an SPF moisturizer on your face daily? If you’re eager to try out these two new Olay products I’ve got the perfect giveaway for you.

I love to go outside with my grandchildren and watch them as they have water fights and run through the sprinkler. They also enjoy it when I go play bubbles with them out on the deck which is pretty sunny.
