I am all about the last minute gifts. While I keep a well stocked gift trunk there is always someone I forget about, or someone I don’t realize we’ll be seeing or exchanging with until that right down to the wire last minute. So every year on here I’ve highlighted some of my last minute gifts of choice, and this year my suggestion is… Netflix giftcards!
I guess they started selling these back in the summertime, but I only just recently noticed that they exist. The cards are available in $30 and $60 denominations. Since a Netflix subscription only costs $9 a month, that’s like giving someone 3 or 6 months worth of Netflix.
This is my sneaky way of converting everyone to Netflix. Get them to try it for a few months, then they’re hooked. The bonus for me is now when I start raving on about how You Must Stream This Awesome Show Right Now they won’t look at me strange and say what on earth are you talking about. I love being able to call my sister up and say Dr.Who Season 2, have you made it to season 2 yet? Did you see that one with both the Cybermen AND the Daleks? Right, yes, hilarious!!You watched a documentary on what? Bronies? Oh, I am so adding that to my Watch List.
I’m particularly fond of gifts that don’t involve me having to go anywhere near the mall, and this easily fits the bill because Netflix giftcards are available at grocery stores, convenience stores and pharmacies across Canada. Look for them at Loblaws, EBGames, Macs, Shoppers Drug Mart, Target, 7-Eleven, Staples, Metro, Best Buy, Walmart and other stores. Pretty much anywhere you find giftcards. You can go to this website, pop in your postalcode, and they’ll show you the closest spot you can pick one up.
