A few months back I was staying at a hotel on an overnight trip. I was packing everything up to head back home when I ducked my head into the bathroom to find half of the contents of my toiletries kit spread out over the hotel bathroom counter. As I unzipped the bag and started to carefully stack everything back inside I had a realization. Laid out on this counter were all the things I absolutely couldn’t leave home without, and 99% of them were made by P&G.
Am I a P&G Mom? You better believe it!
Remember when I talked about how much I love the free P&G Brand Sampler packs they send out a few times a year? Well that’s where the wee perfectly travel sized bottle of Pantene Shampoo came from. I hate relying on hotel shampoo. I find what the various hotels offer can seriously vary in quality and often comes in such small bottles that it feels like I don’t have enough to clean my, admittedly rather long, hair.
The Gillette Venus Razor also came in the mail. I got it free in a P&G sampler pack a few months back and set it aside to save for when travelling. I used to put my favourite razor in a ziplock bag and bring it with me. Now instead I often open a new sample razor and then leave it at the hotel when I’m done. Not, I will admit, the greenest solution but it doesn’t cost me anything and it sure is tidy and convenient. When I travelled to Mexico I intentionally left my entire shaving kit behind, complete with several new sealed blades, as suitcase space was at a premium and I thought housekeeping might appreciate the gift.
Of course I wouldn’t travel anywhere without my absolutely can’t live without it under the eye stuff, a.k.a. the Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Eye Cream Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush.
Another Olay product I find absolutely indispensable is the Complete Daily Defense All Day Moisturizer with SPF 30 Sunscreen. I can’t imagine heading anywhere without this one. Also the bottle is only 75ml, which makes it perfect for packing when flying.
I can’t imagine hitting the road without bringing my Tide-To-Go pen along. This is how I take care of any accidents I have with my clothes while away from home. Sometimes a dab with this will clean it right up, other times I just feel better knowing I’ve pre-treated the dirt so it will come clean once I get back home and run it through the wash.
Other essentials that made the bag include my favourite CoverGirl mascara , my go to lipgloss, Glide Tooth Floss and of course my favourite deodorant.
I also have this small wooden box I use to hold my jewelry. This is one well-travelled box. It was a gift from a globe-trotting friend, given to me over a dozen years ago. The lid fits snuggly, and the box is very light and durable, making it perfect for holding my necklace, earrings and backings. If you don’t already have something like this I highly recommend hunting one down. Any small wooden box should do, with a tight fitting lid being key.
And of course my travel bag also includes my emergency sewing kit, tweezers, nail clippers, cotton swabs, a few hair ties and a barrette. Not pictured are my hairbrush and fancy electric toothbrush, add in those items and I’m good to go just about anywhere.
