Here’s what I DON’T want you to give my kids for Halloween…

October 31, 2018 by Deanna Tousignant 1 Comment

Ok people, friendly Halloween-candy-handing-out people, I want to ask you a favour. Could you please stop giving my kids so much candy? Like seriously, one piece is enough. This whole, "Oh my goodness. Look at you! You're so cute. Here let me drop two big handfuls of junk food into your pillowcase.", stuff has to stop. Please just give my kids one piece of candy, one … [Read more...]

Listen Lego, We Need to Talk…. As Your Friend I Really Need to Tell You a Few Things

July 21, 2015 by Deanna Tousignant 5 Comments

Listen Lego, we need to talk. We've known each other for a long time, right? What's it been, maybe 36 years now? I feel, as your friend, that I have to sit you down and explain some things to you. And I'm only saying this because I love you, I mean I really truly love you. But I think maybe you've been hanging out with the wrong people, Lego. I don't know who the heck you've … [Read more...]

The Differences Between Long Hair & Absurdly Long Hair, aka How I became a Freak

January 31, 2014 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

I find that being out in public with extremely long hair is much like walking around with a baby bump showing. Total strangers seem to think this gives them the license to touch and to ask awkward personal questions. Little old ladies in particular, seem to be drawn to touching and petting my hair. For the most part I put up with it, because who has the heart to tell some sweet … [Read more...]

Do you sleep in when you’re on vacation? What time do you eat breakfast?

May 15, 2013 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

Am I the only person in creation that wants to sleep in when on vacation? What the heck is with hotels that only serve breakfast until 9 or 10 am?  I don't want to be awake at 9am. When I roll out of bed at 11am or Noon, or hell 1pm, I want to be able to find something to eat. This is not a dig at my recent stay at The Grand Hotel & Suites in Toronto.  This is a … [Read more...]

Girls Will Be… Pink?

January 20, 2013 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

I have this love/hate thing going with the colour pink. As in, I hate it and my daughter loves it. From the moment I first discovered that my child was going to be a girl, I had this crazy notion that I was going to protect her from pink. She wasn't going to be limited. She wasn't going to be labelled. I wasn't going to dress my baby by colour code, simply  for the comfort … [Read more...]

Why My Friday Night Sucked, or On Taking My Baby Girl to Emerg.

October 8, 2011 by Deanna Tousignant Leave a Comment

Everyone in the house is sick right now with this sore throat stuffed up miserableness thing, that I am really hoping to shake off in time for Blissdom Canada.  Thanks to a couple of last minute sponsorship angels I didn't have to sell my Blissdom ticket. (Thank you greenmuch.ca and sammygs.com!).  Which means I had to, you know, actually book train tickets and stuff.  Which … [Read more...]

TD Canada Trust is driving me mad!

November 12, 2010 by Deanna Tousignant 7 Comments

My husband has a credit card with TD Canada Trust.   They have been calling here almost every day for the last four weeks or so.  I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that they have called here 20 or 30 times!  They called TWICE today.  When they call, my husband is not home and they won't leave a message with me.  They tell me, It's nothing to worry about, simply a … [Read more...]

Shop Local, Shop Little — It Matters, Here’s Why

September 9, 2010 by Deanna Tousignant 1 Comment

To me “shop local” means more then just looking for local produce in the nearby chain grocery store.  It means more then shopping at the local farmer’s market (which I do so love).  It means supporting the little guy.  It means choosing the local independent store, over the nearby big box store. Photo Credit: Sam Saunders Recently, my parents closed down the … [Read more...]
