Why My Friday Night Sucked, or On Taking My Baby Girl to Emerg.
Everyone in the house is sick right now with this sore throat stuffed up miserableness thing, that I am really hoping to shake off in time for Blissdom Canada. Thanks to a couple of last minute sponsorship angels I didn't have to sell my Blissdom ticket. (Thank you greenmuch.ca and sammygs.com!). Which means I had to, you know, actually book train tickets and stuff. Which … [Read more...]
Our Experiences with Kindermusik
About a year ago now I was struggling with potty training Rainbow and was ready to offer her whatever form of bribery requested. We talked it over and what she wanted most was music classes. (ahem, you may remember that in particular she was fixated on learning to play the banjo). I looked around for age appropriate music classes and found there really wasn't much out there. … [Read more...]

Diaper Time Woes – Or how to change a screaming octopus?
My first child was ridiculously easy to change. Sure, she managed to pee on me more then once, and I had the occasional extremely nasty poop blowout to contend with... but after the first few weeks she caught on to the whole diaper changing thing. She would lay relatively still and let me change her. She seemed to welcome diaper changing time, which to me just makes sense. A … [Read more...]
Today I am Thankful for Extended Breastfeeding….
Rocket isn't feeling well. She has a fever. She is miserable. It is at times like these that I am thankful that I am still breastfeeding. I know that despite the fact that she hasn't had much appetite for the past few days, that she is staying well hydrated and getting the nourishment she needs. When nothing else seems to work to calm her down, snuggling on mom's lap and … [Read more...]
Easter Pics ala Flip
I decided to use our new Flip camera to try and capture Easter this year. I just spent about an hour playing around with the Snapshot Feature, which allows you to turn video footage into stills. The photos turned out a little darker and grainier then I would like. I was surprised how few of the individual frames are actually in focus, when it looks so crisp viewed as a … [Read more...]
Tally Me Bananas…
I find myself wondering if there is such a thing as too many bananas. Rocket is developing a banana obsession. Every morning she stands at the gate to the kitchen saying "Nan-a, nan-a!" while making the banana peeling finger motion that is the ASL sign for banana. If I produce anything other then a banana for breakfast, she looks at me like I'm a simpleton and mutters "Nana! … [Read more...]

And She Sleeps…
Right around her first birthday Rocket went through a phase where she refused to sleep. I was at a loss, as I stumbled around in a zombie like haze. I wrote about it on here and many of you responded with helpful suggestions, for which I am so thankful. I wanted to write and say thank you, and give you all an update. Rocket was freaking out every time I laid her on her … [Read more...]
Happy Birthday Rocket!
Rocket is one year old. She's on my lap nursing while I type this. She's getting too long and lanky to sneak in nursing at the computer for much longer. Her wiggly toes keep hitting the keyboard. I can't believe it's been a year. I can't believe my baby girl is already so big. This kid LOVES to eat. Once I got over my initial hesitation to … [Read more...]

Picnic Time {Wordless Wednesday}
The other day we ended up going for a short hike and a picnic. We parked on McHugh, just east of the WFCU centre and took a pedestrian tunnel under the roadway. I think this area is called McHugh Park. It's part of the Little River Corridor and it's quite lovely for someplace within the city. Me, walking with Rainbow, and wearing Baby Girl in wrap. Rainbow … [Read more...]
Sisterly Love {Wordless Wednesday}
With love for Baby Girl
I find myself talking and writing more often about my big kid, Rainbow. She's more vocal, and she does the funniest stuff. It's easy to over look my littlest little, Rocket. She's sitting on my lap right now as I type this with one hand. She smiles and bounces and waves her arms around. I offer her a toy and she reaches out for it and gurgles and coos. I'm thinking six months … [Read more...]
