B is for Bedtime
and Bedtime is for
B O O K S
Our bedtime routine is pretty standard.
Battle with the girls over brushing their teeth and completing their other bathroom bedtime business. Briskly move things to Rainbow’s bedroom, where we burrow in the bedsheets and enjoy a chapter from our latest book. Baum brings us to back to Oz as little sister bounces in and out of the room.
The book gets tucked away, blankets get tucked around one little body and I blast into part two of the bedtime balancing act; getting Rocket upstairs into her bedroom where we bustle into PJs and read a board book. Lights out. Blink in the blackness as Rocket balances on my lap for a brief bit of breastfeeding. One little body gets boosted over the bars, blankies and buddies get arranged and I breeze into the basement to beat hubby at board games.
In case curiosity is bugging you, and you’re too bashful to ask: Rainbow and I are working through Baum’s original Oz series for a second time, and we’re close to finishing book number nine: The Scarecrow of Oz. While Rocket’s current favourites include; Time for Bed by Mem Fox, Can You See a Little Bear? by James Mayhew and Jackie Morris and Sandra Boyton’s Belly Button Book.
